ID: COVER OF THE SUSPECT AUTHORED BY ROBERT RINDER MBE - HIS NEW BOOK. WITH A RED SHINY COVER WITH BOLD BLACK AND WHITE WRITING AND A PICTURE OF A LEGAL WIG WORN BY BARRISTERS AND JUDGES.
How's life treating you these days? Things going well or could they be better? Each of us indeed has our own 'burned to bare' these days - life can be stressful and chaotic can't it? Imagine you had we going to be tried for murder in your home country (for me it's the UK) - how would you feel? Petrified - especially if your country had the death penalty still in force. Robert Rinder has finally published his second spell binding book entitled The Suspect - The whole country say it happen. BUT WHO DID IT? Yet again he skilfully draws us in using his knowledge of the legal field within England and Wales, his dark and dry humour and expert understanding of the human psyche (2024). Celebrity and film/TV star Joanna Lumley was spot on when she said that It is difficult to put down. Each of the 235 pages of the Hard Back first edition are bursting with who done it clues - guiding us in all sorts of directions. But will you guess who did murder Rinder's main character Jessica?
Rinder takes us on a whirlwind journey through the world of day time British TV - something that Robert is well known to frequent himself. Its easy to imagine you are there on set yourself, hearing the executive producers and crew communicating via ear pieces, the celbs interviewing their pundits who are desperate for their 5 minutes of fame even down to the shallow and insecure culture that permeates this line of work. One of the things I particularly enjoy is Rinder's in-depth knowledge of the courts (Bexley Magistrates Court) especially in the area I originally came from and have frequented when studying my A Level Law. The defendants he has as clients - the flashers (usually from The Royal Park in Greenwich due to there being a private all girls school) or the repeat shop lifters. This client of his takes me back to the age of 16 (many moons ago) when I had to go on an internship with the Met police. My very first 'shout' was in a tiny car to arrest a repeat shoplifter. Once the person was apprehended (with a frozen chicken up their shirt) and was cuffed, I was placed in the back of this car next to the offender who was not very happy to have his meal taken way from him. He then starts throwing himself over the backseat then proceeds to headbutt the side window and SMASH!!! Glass and blood everywhere - over him the car and me. I could not get out of the car quickly enough.
I see a lot of myself in the main character Adam Green. This is a true skill as an author to draw in your readers like this and make the characters come alive and seem real. My only issue with this magnificent fictional publication, is that characters are based on real life people in showbiz. For example, it does not take a genius to make out who the two men Ted and Toby are! For that matter what the show - Wake up Britain is based on. There is nothing wrong with basing things on real life but sometimes this can take away from the skill of the author and in some places I personally feel that this has happened. Don't let this put you off buying or borrowing this book though. Overall it is an excellent piece of fiction. If Robert continues using his pen as skilfully as he has thus far, his main character Adam Green will be more than amply qualified to join the ranks of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot and the like.
Robert Rinder's The Suspect really is another success and I can clearly see this becoming an award winner and international best seller. This book is most certainly one of the best gifts I have had in a long time. So thank you Robert for giving us another stunning Adam Green adventure - I and your readers look forward to his next adventures.
